Fostering is a very rewarding and fun process. We can always use good fosters to help us in our efforts to provide Sugar Gliders a loving home until they find their forever home. We provide most of the required items and ask that your provide fresh produce, treats, and love for your fosters. Items we provide are cage, wheels, toys, cage set, a starter pack of the staple, and other required items. We also pay for the veterinarian care of the sugar gliders.

We ask that anyone who fosters live within 1-2 hour radius of Austin to help make it easier to transporting for veterinarian appointments. Fosters will be added to a message group where other fosters chat at. In addition you will be required to submit weekly notes of your foster that should include weights, weekly pictures, tent test, any behavior notes, and any other required information needed. As adoptions are approved fosters will meet with approved adopters to meet your fosters. For safety of the sugar gliders we do ask that you have them meet either at your place or an approved location where the sugar gliders can be kept securely. 

There’s also a foster-to-adopt option. The way that works is you would pay a $100 non refundable deposit that goes toward the adoption fee. We would give you 1-2 months to decide if they’re right for your household. During that time you would be asked to follow the same protocol as a normal foster. After the 1-2 month trial period, if you don’t think you want to adopt, you can continue to foster until we find a home for the gliders, or you can bring them back to us with all of their stuff. If you do want to adopt, you can buy the full set up from the rescue, or you can buy everything new and return the items to us.
